The one-ounce Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Bullion Coin was first minted in 1979 and every year thereafter. Originally minted as a purity level of .999. In November of 1982 the Royal Canadian Mint increased the gold content to .999 purity levels. Also, that year 1/4 ounce and 1/10-ounce coins were added. This gold coin is classified by the U.S. Government and the industry as Bullion It is one of the purest official bullion coins in the world. Purity does not necessarily correlate to protection and profitability. The 1 ounce, 1/4-ounce, 1/10 ounce, and 1 gram coin design feature the profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Canada on the obverse (front) and the Canadian Maple Leaf on the reverse (back) of the coin. Charles the III is featured on two coins, the 1/2 ounce and 1/20-ounce gold coins. These gold coins are minted in multiple sizes and face values, as known as denominations. They are minted as follows: 1 oz: $50, 1/2 oz $20, 1/4 oz $10, 1/10 oz $5, 1/20 oz $1 and 1 gram $.50.
