Peace Dollars
Peace Dollars
The Peace silver dollar is a United States dollar coin minted for the purpose to be used as currency. This coin is also known by many as the “sister coin” to the Morgan Dollar. Minted from 1921-1935. The design was changed from the Morgan Dollar as the public wanted both a change and a coin to celebrate the end of World War I. They were minted at three mints, Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco with a total mintage of 190,577,279. There is estimated approximately less than 100,000 Peace Dollars that are known to be in existence. Historically, this coin has been a neglected series, and instead, the focus has been on the Morgan Dollars. Yet, in the silver bull market of the 1970’s, this silver coin was the number one performing asset out of all the mainstream coin markets, both gold and silver.
